How to contact a lost pet's owner [+]
Once the pet has been scanned and the microchip located and read the microchip number is displayed on the scanner. Click the 'Found a pet' tab at the top of the page and enter the microchip number in the search box.
If the pet has been registered with Microchip Central and the owner has given consent to display their data, you will see their contact details plus critical information about the lost pet. If it has been registered with a different database or they have not consented to their data being shared, you can try to contact the database directly.
If the pet is not microchipped or the owner cannot be contacted, the local authority must be informed if the pet found is a dog.
