Microchip Lookup

How to Identify the Pet Microchip

If the pet is not wearing a collar or tag, you can try to identify a microchip. If you have a scanner and locate the chip, please enter it in the box above. If you don’t have a scanner, or don’t know if the pet is microchipped, you can find one of our local Scan Angels who will be able to scan the pet. If they locate a microchip, they can check which database it is registered to and initiate the process of reuniting the pet with its owner.

You can also take the pet to the nearest veterinary practice to have the microchip scanned, or call to see if a pet has been reported missing.

If the microchip is registered with Microchip Central and the owner has consented to their contact details being shared, you will be able to contact them directly. If not, you will need to call our 247 help line on 01223 622658 and tell us the microchip number so we can try to contact the owner.

Please also adhere to these additional guidelines.

Stray Dog Law

The law states that lost dogs must be reported to the local authority if the owners cannot be contacted. You only need do this if you cannot contact the owner. Scan Angels will help you contact the owner. If the dog is not chipped or the owner cannot be contacted the local authority must be contacted.
