What to do:

If the pet has a collar tag with owner information, please contact them directly.

If there is no collar tag, but you have access to a scanner and locate a microchip, please enter the number in the lookup tool above, to find out which database it is registered to.

Locate the microchip

If you do not know if the dog is micro chipped, check here to find your local ScanAngel.

They will scan the dog and, if they locate a microchip, they can check which database it is registered to and initiate the process of reuniting the animal with its owner.

Stray Dog Law

The law states that lost dogs must be reported to the local authority if the owners cannot be contacted. You only need do this if you cannot contact the owner. ScanAngels will help you contact the owner. If the dog is not chipped or the owner cannot be contacted the local authority must be contacted.


Lost Pets

What to do:

If your pet goes missing log into your account and ensure that your contact details are correct and up-to-date. Then select the Report missing button in your pet's profile. This is found in the dropdown box marked “Choose action”

Keep your mobile phone with you at all times in case someone finds your pet and tries to contact you.

If you don't have a MicroChip Central Account, you can create one now and report it missing.

If marked as 'lost', your pet's microchip number will be sent to over 10,000 Halo scanner owners in the UK Scanner Angel network. If your pet is found and scanned by a Scanner Angel it will automatically display it as missing and show MicroChip Central’s contact number.

If you think your pet has been stolen you should inform the Police immediately.

If your Microchip number is searched on the MicroChip Central site you will get an instant SMS and email alert and a link to a map pinpointing where it has been found. If it is searched on any other DEFRA compliant database it will list MicroChip Central as having your and your pet’s contact information.

Lost pet alert. If you lose your pet with or without a collar on you can hit the 'Lost my Dog' button on the DogTrac app or online and notification will instantly be sent to the PetWatch community within 5 miles of where it went missing. A ‘Lost Dog’ poster on every street corner in seconds.
